What Are Solar Rebates and Incentives?
Solar rebates and incentives are financial programs designed to make solar energy more affordable. Offered by federal, state, and local agencies (as well as some utilities), they help reduce the upfront cost of installation or offer ongoing credits for clean energy production.
Essentially, these programs were created to encourage solar adoption by lowering the financial barrier and rewarding long-term energy savings.
Here are a few key ones.
CPS Energy Solar Rooftop Incentives
CPS Energy still offers rooftop solar incentives, but exclusively for qualifying commercial customers, including small businesses, schools, and nonprofits. Participants receive a tiered rebate structure: $0.60 per AC watt for the first 25 kW and $0.40 per watt thereafter, with an extra $0.10 per watt premium when using local solar modules.
Despite CPS’s scaling back of previous rebates, we continue to support commercial clients in navigating CPS Energy’s current incentive structure.
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative Solar Net Metering
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative doesn’t currently offer direct solar rebates, but they do allow net metering for qualified members. If your system produces more energy than you use, those extra kilowatt-hours are credited to your next bill at a rate based on wholesale costs.
We help our clients understand how this credit system works and ensure your solar setup is optimized to take full advantage of it.
New Braunfels Utility Solar Rebate Options
New Braunfels Utility offers a solar rebate of up to $3,000 for residential customers who install qualifying rooftop systems. It’s a strong incentive for homeowners looking to lower upfront costs while improving long-term energy savings.
There are a few important prerequisites, though, like completing the NBU Going Solar Course before applying. We can discuss these in more detail when you reach out to make the process easy to navigate.
